Gather Children’s Pet Books for Charity!
Please follow my lead and buy some pet-focused children’s books or scour your own bookshelves — and those of your friends! — for any pet-themed book that is written for children or would be child-friendly. I did that and effortlessly sent them to Hindi’s Libraries, a New York-based literacy nonprofit that donates new and gently used children’s books across the globe.
You can hear me talk about it with the founder, Leslie Gang, on the recent episode of DOG TALK in which she discusses their Pages for Paws campaign.
You don’t have to trek to the post office with a heavy box of books or face high shipping costs, either. How about this sweet deal? Go to the astounding Give Back Books website, which is connected to Hindis Libraries, and you’ll get a prepaid label for a box of any size or weight for only $15. UPS will pick it up and deliver it to the organization’s headquarters at 38 Adele Road, Cedarhurst NY 11516. A miracle!

Bonus: Through the end of April, for every children’s book you send that focuses on a pet or animal, Redbarn Pet Products (https://www.redbarn.com) will match the book with a donation of a day’s nutritional pet products to Kids Adopt a Shelter (KAS), a local nonprofit started by a child that supports Long Island shelters.
