Cat Scratch Disease Can Put You in the Hospital

Cat Chat – Brought to You by Dr. Elsey’s (09-02-2020) #0004: Dr. Bruce Gordon Kornreich from the Cornell Feline Health Center (which does research to prevent and treat diseases in cats) talks about the dangers of cat scratch disease. In rare cases, a scratch or bite can send some cat owners to the hospital. Find out how to prevent cat scratch disease, which is caused by a bacteria spread among cats primarily by fleas. Children younger than five and immunocompromised individuals are at greater risk for cat scratch disease from scratches or bite wounds.
