DOG TALK® (and Kitties, Too!) originated on the only NPR station on Long Island, WLIW-88.3, where it has been on the air for 13 years and numerous consecutive shows. This Gracie® Award-winning show (for “Best entertainment and information program on local public radio”), is produced and hosted by pet wellness advocate Tracie Hotchner. Each show features Tracie’s interviews with authors and pet experts from around the world, discussing far-ranging topics involving practical and philosophical issues regarding our relationships with dogs and cats.
The show broadcasts from the East End and reaches all across Long Island, into Southern Connecticut and Westchester.

A University study of “Psychopathy” in Cats Raises Tracie’s Dander
Dog Talk (And Kitties Too!) (12-26-2021) #759: Featuring Rebecca Evans, Mikel Delgado, and Kristin von Kreisler. Rebecca Evans, a PhD student at Liverpool John Moore’s University, was the head researcher on a study questioning whether cats have a “psychopathic” gene, and developed a scale on which to score cats, and defends the ideas behind the study to Tracie, who read about the study and is repelled by the human-oriented concept of [psychopathic behavior being applied to felines; cat behaviorist Dr. Mikel Delgado comments on the “psycho-cat study” and expresses dismay at the negative vocabulary assigned to perfectly natural, normal feline behavior and hard-wired instincts; Kristin von Kreisler discusses her novel A Reason for Hope, which has a courtroom dog as a main character supporting a woman who goes to court for justice in a sexual assault, showing the courage of a woman standing up for herself and the amazing dog trained to stand by her side.
