NPR LogoDOG TALK® (and Kitties, Too!) originated on the only NPR station on Long Island, WLIW-88.3, where it has been on the air for 13 years and numerous consecutive shows.  This Gracie® Award-winning show (for “Best entertainment and information program on local public radio”), is produced and hosted by pet wellness advocate Tracie Hotchner. Each show features Tracie’s interviews with authors and pet experts from around the world, discussing far-ranging topics involving practical and philosophical issues regarding our relationships with dogs and cats. The show broadcasts from the East End and reaches all across Long Island, into Southern Connecticut and Westchester. The show's theme song is "Mmm My Best Friend" by Sophie B. Louisa McClune is the Director of the Kirkpatrick Foundation and talks to Tracie about being the editor of the book LOVE CAN BE, with writings about dogs and cats; Chris Roy founded a pet transport pilot group that provides technology tools to help volunteer animal rescue transporters (over 21,000 and growing) manage relay transport, local rides and airline transports. Chris explains how animal rescues and shelters simply enter the from/to and date of the transport or local ride needed, and the Doobert system plots the route on Google Maps and automatically notifies the appropriate volunteers through emails and text; Susanne Schotz [Associate Professor of Phonetics, division of Logopedics, Phoniatrics, and Audiology /Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University] speaks with Tracie from Sweden, where she researched and wrote THE SECRET LANGUAGE OF CATS: HOW TO UNDERSTAND YOUR CAT FOR A BETTER, HAPPIER RELATIONSHIP.
