DOG TALK® (and Kitties, Too!) originated on the only NPR station on Long Island, WLIW-88.3, where it has been on the air for 13 years and numerous consecutive shows. This Gracie® Award-winning show (for “Best entertainment and information program on local public radio”), is produced and hosted by pet wellness advocate Tracie Hotchner. Each show features Tracie’s interviews with authors and pet experts from around the world, discussing far-ranging topics involving practical and philosophical issues regarding our relationships with dogs and cats.
The show broadcasts from the East End and reaches all across Long Island, into Southern Connecticut and Westchester.

(02-06-2022) #765: Tracie spends the entire hour talking about the future of puppies in America with Dr. Candace Croney, the visionary veterinary educator who has spent a decade studying how to produce happy, healthy litters from happy, healthy canine parents. Dr. Croney is a Professor of Animal Behavior, Ethics and Wellness and the Director of the Center for Animal Welfare Science at Purdue University, who created Canine Care Certified Breeders which Tracie believes will change the face of “puppy making” in the United States. There are already 100 certified breeders committed to the rigorous, expert-reviewed Five Pillars of Care for Physical Health, Behavioral Health, Environment, Breeding Life and Retirement, and Caretaker Expectation. They also agree to being independently audited to confirm compliance with all of the standards.
