DOG TALK® (and Kitties, Too!) originated on the only NPR station on Long Island, WLIW-88.3, where it has been on the air for 13 years and numerous consecutive shows. This Gracie® Award-winning show (for “Best entertainment and information program on local public radio”), is produced and hosted by pet wellness advocate Tracie Hotchner. Each show features Tracie’s interviews with authors and pet experts from around the world, discussing far-ranging topics involving practical and philosophical issues regarding our relationships with dogs and cats.
The show broadcasts from the East End and reaches all across Long Island, into Southern Connecticut and Westchester.

Dog Talk #338: Scott Stulen, Project Director of the super-popular Cat Video Festival at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis (to which 10,000 people came for a second year running), discusses the phenomenon of online communities of people eagerly seeking out the opportunity to come together in “real life” to experience their shared interests together; Francesco Marciuliano reads hilarious poems by dogs in his book I Could Chew on This; Gordie Spater created the dog travel specialty company Kurgo and talks about how changing social attitudes to dogs as peoples’ constant companions has led people to take their dogs with them everywhere, and to slowly embrace safety harnesses and barriers for dogs who “come along for the ride.”
