Grieving the Loss of Your Pet can Be a Good Thing

Dog Talk (And Kitties Too!) (08-21-2022) #793A: Author E.B. Bartels talks about her book “Good Grief: On Loving Pets, Here and Hereafter,” which intersperses her own pet loves and losses throughout her life — and reminds us that a deep love causes a deep grief. Her descriptions of the various ways she memorialized her pets’ passing from childhood on reminds us of the connectivity that causes pet grief. The book also covers the history of end-of-life rituals for companion animals throughout history and cultures, which E.B. spent ten years researching.
