In Honor of the Death of Mary Oliver (1935-2019)
Dog Talk (And Kitties Too!) (01-26-2019) #607: In Honor of the Death of Mary Oliver (1935-2019) featuring Teresa Miller, and Wade Rouse. One of Tracie’s favorite poets passed away this past week [memorialized in a New York Times obituary] and Tracie wanted to celebrate Mary Oliver’s work, especially her love for dogs, by reading from a volume of her poems called DOG SONGS; Teresa Miller (co-editor of LOVE CAN BE: A LITERARY COLLECTION ABOUT OUR ANIMALS and director emerita of the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers at Oklahoma State University) reads from her piece “The One-Eyed Dog” in that collection and discusses the wealth of creative talent in her home state of Oklahoma; Wade Rouse reads his funny and touching dog-centric piece “Christmas Cookie” from the collection LOVE CAN BE; Tracie reads an excerpt from the ending of Dean Koontz’s book BIG LITTLE LIFE about how the spirit of those we have loved and admired lives on, as she hopes Mary Oliver’s will continue to do.
