Humane Talk (8-04-2014) #8032: McDonald’s is taking action to move toward ending the use of gestation crates for breeding pigs — which is pretty great news for those pigs who become part of an Egg McMuffin! More and more restaurant chains, pork producers, and food service companies are making similar announcements to phase out this cruel confinement. On a different topic, managing the wild horse population has become a contested issue. The government rounds up thousands of these wild horses, that are an iconic part of the U.S. landscape. Wayne talks about the history of wild horse protection and how a safe contraceptive vaccine for these animals can help manage their populations humanely and effectively.
